About this practice

Six constructions cover major, minor, diminished, augmented, sus2, and sus4. Roots are limited to C, D, F, G, and A. This checks exact sounding pitches in the stated voicing, not spelling, emotional character, or a need to resolve. Sus2 and sus4 replace the third; neither is required to move onward.

Keyboard labels use sharps. The authored chord spelling appears in feedback and on the staff: a white F key can sound E♯ in an A augmented triad. Piano: Splendid Grand, the Common Tone’s approved quiet layer.
